Yesterday we returned to winning ways at home to Bishops Stortford. I'm pretty sure the 4 father/son combinations on the pitch sets a record for an external fixture (we did once have had as many as 7 for an intra-club games) with Charles and Benedict Armstrong making their debuts alongside the Normans, Pearsons and Rawlinsons. It was the dads that got the goals (Darren x 2, Kris and Ian), mostly with assists from the younger generation, in a game we sometimes threatened to dominate, but mostly we had to work pretty hard for what in the end was a well deserved 4 - 2 win. Apart from some problems getting the ball out from the back, we again played a good passing game with some smart judgment on when to pass and when to dribble, and some great work in space and off the ball when we went forward. Some of the early, weighted through passes behind their defence were outstanding. Defence occasionally looked a little ragged, but with much vocal encouragement from Nick we actually drifted well and closed down their lively front line pretty effectively.

Zack gets the call for Man of the Match for a disciplined and effective marking role and strong running and distribution through midfield, but the confidence and accuracy of all the lads' passing was very impressive.

For the first time this season we actually served teas,so big thanks to the Rawlinsons for providing the famous veggie Chilli.
